1969 Matchbox BMC 1800 Pininfarina

The BMC 1800 Aerodinamica was a concept car designed by Pininfarina and unveiled at the 1967 Turin Motor Show. It was based on the BMC 1800, a low and wide- proportioned production car that was known as the “Landcrab” as much for its looks as for its slow and steady performance. The more elegantly styled Aerodinamica was never put into production, but its influence on later executive cars such as the Citroen CX and the Rover SDI is undeniable.

The Matchbox BMC 1800 Pininfarina was first released in 1969 and was produced in metallic gold, pink and orange variations. This nice gold example is another of my Wichita eBay scores. I have seen photos of this model with racing labels applied, but I am unsure if labels/no labels were two different variations or if the sticker sheet was included with all of the gold versions and some just chose not to apply them.

The Matchbox BMC 1800 Pininfarina features opening doors.
