1977 Matchbox Two Packs Jeep and Glider Trailer

The Matchbox Two Packs TP-7 Glider Set was released in 1977 and was produced in several variations. There were three different tow vehicles, including the Field Car, the Ford Escort and the Jeep, as you see in my example that I scored on eBay.

The Matchbox #38 Jeep was first released in 1976 and was produced in 11 different variations, with or without a rear-mounted gun. In the Glider Set, the Jeep has no gun, has a Gliding Club label on the hood, and is yellow, or – less commonly – red. The yellow Jeep has a white or black base like mine. Click here to see the military Jeep with a gun that I still have from my childhood.

The Matchbox #794 Glider Trailer made its debut in the 1977 Glider Set Two Packs and was produced in about 8 different variations. In the TP-7, the Glider Trailer is yellow with Gliding Club labels when paired with the Field Car, green with seagull labels when paired with the Ford Escort, and yellow with Gliding Club labels or no labels when paired with the yellow Jeep. A red Jeep and red Glider Trailer combination is apparently rare and valuable. Later Two Packs paired the Glider Trailer with the BMW Cabriolet (TP-118, 1987) and the Porsche Turbo (TP-122, 1989).
